How to build a UTM campaign link without losing the destination
Choose consistent campaign labels, preserve existing query data, review replacement conflicts and check the final link.
Open the toolPlan the campaign labels before building a link
Use UTM parameters to label an external campaign link for a site whose analytics are already configured. Kervoni’s builder does not install analytics, create a report or verify that a click was recorded. Choose consistent names before distributing links: Campaign source identifies the referrer, Campaign medium describes the channel, and Campaign name distinguishes the promotion. Values retain their letter case. Avoid mixing Email and email unintentionally, and do not place personal details or secrets in labels that will be visible in the shared address.
Build a concrete example
Open the UTM Campaign URL Builder. Enter https://example.com/offer?size=large#details as Destination URL. Set Campaign source to newsletter, Campaign medium to email and Campaign name to autumn_launch. Leave the optional term and content fields empty, then select Build campaign URL. The result is https://example.com/offer?size=large&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=autumn_launch#details. Check that the original size parameter and fragment remain. Use Copy URL to transfer the complete value; the tool does not shorten it or publish it to an advertising account.
Use optional fields and encoding deliberately
Campaign term and Campaign content are optional in this interface. They can distinguish a keyword or different creative/link placements when that fits your measurement plan. For example, content top_button can identify a particular link placement. Enter the plain label; the builder encodes parameter values for the URL rather than requiring you to type percent escapes manually. It exposes five campaign fields, not every parameter supported by an analytics platform. Keep a record of the labels used so later comparisons have a consistent meaning.
Resolve an existing-parameter conflict carefully
By default, a link containing any of these five managed UTM keys produces a conflict instead of silently changing them. Review the URL before enabling Replace existing UTM parameters. Replacement rewrites those five fields; an old optional term or content value is removed if you leave its field empty. Other query data, including a parameter outside this five-field set such as utm_id, remains. Do not use the option as a general URL cleaner. Known signed-link patterns are rejected because editing such a link can invalidate it; that detection is not exhaustive.
Test the final destination and retain the right limits
Use a complete HTTP or HTTPS address without spaces, embedded login details or a temporary access signature. Each campaign field allows at most 500 characters, and the finished URL at most 8,192. Editing an input clears the prior output, so rebuild before copying again. Open a test link and check the intended page and section, then verify campaign reporting in the destination’s configured analytics. The builder does not fetch, upload or save the entered address. The site you visit afterward handles the request under its own settings.
